University Medical Centre Rostock’s Teddy Bear Hospital launches on 22 April 2024
Rostock – A big surprise for the Teddy Docs at University Medical Centre Rostock. They have received a donation of over 1,000 euros from the north-German service provider BWTS GmbH. This will come in very useful for the Teddy Bear Hospital. The Teddy Docs will be opening their doors on the Schillingallee Campus on 22 April at 8 a.m., to have fun with pre-nursery children and teach them that hospitals are nothing to be afraid of. "We are delighted about the generous donation. We plan to use the money to offer our small patients a very special attraction, which we cannot reveal yet. What I can say, though, is that this year the campaign is all about nutrition and dental health," explains Dr Gernot Rücker, emergency physician and medical director of the Teddy Bear Hospital.
Every year, the renewable energy service-provider donates 1,000 euros for a good cause. "At the annual general meeting, employees can submit their suggestions regarding which association or company they think we should support. The ideas are then all put into a rafflebox," explains Marc Wollschläger, Head of Sales at BWTS GmbH. "Our employee Maik Fahning got lucky and his suggestion was drawn." He found out about the Teddy Bear Hospital last year during stay at the clinic. "Normally I have a bit of a queasy feeling whenever I enter a hospital. This time it's different. I am delighted that we are able to support the Teddy Docs," he said as he handed over the donation check.
Pre-nursery children will be invited to visit this hospital from 22 to 26 April, bringing their cuddly toys with them, to be shown some of the main areas inside a hospital, including admission, doctor-patient consultation and treatment. The Teddy Docs will even be offering surgery and radiological examinations for the fluffy patients. All depending, of course, on what particular illness or injuries are ailing the cuddly toys. On 27 April, the Teddy Bear Hospital will then be open for all children without registration.
