Inadequate or neglected servicing can result in preventable malfunctions and total failure, with high consequential costs. Personal safety and the smooth functioning of transformers are impaired by contamination, deposits, dust, humidity and the resinification of contact greases. This can cause internal arcs, earth faults and short circuits. Maintenance intervals should be adjusted in accordance with the overall condition and the level of contamination.

As a fundamental rule, a transformer station should be serviced once a year, with every four years as a maximum interval (DGUV V3 inspection). This not only ensures proper functioning and personal safety but also prevents the loss of insurance cover in the event of damage.
