Our services related to hydrogen
For the provision of services on hydrogen plants/systems, BWTS has personnel with corresponding training and equipment (e.g. with ATEX and SIL authorisation). The strict occupational safety requirements in the wind power sector (e.g. those relating to offshore work) have helped us pave our way to tap into this sector, as essential components of occupational safety (such as last-minute risk assessments) that are required for explosion protection areas have been an integral part of our work planning and implementation for more than 15 years.
Installation of hydrogen plants
BWTS supports the manufacturers and operators of hydrogen systems and their components (e.g. electrolysers, compressors, pipework, accumulators and entire systems) across Europe in installing and commissioning hydrogen plants. We are able to realise this on a work contract basis or by supplying temporary workers as part of a customer team.
Service relating to hydrogen plants
As one of the first independent service providers for hydrogen plants, BWTS supports manufacturers and operators across Europe with the maintenance of their plants to ensure safe and economic operation. Examples of our services include:
- Carrying out maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications
- Carrying out repair work (e.g. repairing and changing components in accordance with maintenance and operating instructions)
- Carrying out inspections that need to be performed by a certified monitoring body (approved inspection agency)
- Carrying out inspections that need to be performed by personnel with appropriate expert knowledge (e.g. DGUV V3 inspections of electric components)
- Carrying out inspection work (e.g. infra-red measurements and leak-tightness tests)
- Inspection and changing of safety equipment (e.g. first aid kits, fire extinguishers, personal protective equipment)
- Compiling risk assessments

This has now been underscored by this year’s recertification to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 by TÜV Nord CERT GmbH. In addition to our main business area in the wind industry, the certificate now also contains the areas of hydrogen, electromobility and photovoltaics, and confirms our sustainable and professional development of skills in these business areas.
